Atatihiha recycled basket twister

My name is Atatiha and I am 50 years old. I schooled to primary level and didn’t continue because my parents didn’t support me.

I am married and have 5 children (of which Vida is one), and help support 4 others.

I have been a food vendor for the most part. It wasn’t easy but I earned about 20 Cedis a month (US$15). I did manual labour to get the initial capital for it.

I was weaving baskets for 25 years before now, and now I twist plastic into twines for the basket weavers.

The G-lish project has a lot of impacts. I can

  • Buy foodstuffs
  • Buy small ingredients

I spend most of my money on foodstuffs to support the family. The most important thing to me is my children’s education.

Our main problem is lack of credit to expand businesses.

I think the recycled baskets are good because they help clean up the environment.

The trees I would most like are moringa, mango and eucalyptus for medicine, shade and fruits.

I would like to thank our basket customers and please ask them to tell us the various styles that they would like.
